Personality Astro is just like any other nine year kid. Cheerful, optimistic, wants to have fun and maybe a little smarter then the average kid...ok maybe not a little, but he's not one to show off his knowledge. He's humble, and has a high sense of morality. He believes there's good in everything and everyone should be given an equal opportunity and chance, no matter what their background is. This also makes him easily gullible to believe anything until it's too late. |
Background -WARNING SOME SPOILERS OF THE MOVIE- Astro is not exactly human but a robot, created to look exactly like Dr. Tenma's son who had died during an accident when a robot went rogue. He's built with the most advance technology in robotics, able to withstand just about anything and defend himself. He is also implanted with the memories of Toby through a DNA sequence of Toby's hair. A special and rare blue core, made of positive energy, is use to run him. After spending some time with his father, Dr. Tenma realizes that this was not Toby, his son. Astro will learn of his origins one night, overhearing Dr. Tenma talking to Dr. Elefun/Ochanomizu that Astro was not his son and just a robot and a mistake. He made the decision to completely shut him off, but Astro flies away, not before hearing Dr. Elefun tell him that he has a place somewhere in the world. During a chase to get away from the military's army, Astro crash lands onto the Surface, the land below the floating Metro City. There, he befriends a group of kids, and a robot simply known as Trashcan.
